Day 1 – 4: Ngoma Safari Lodge, Chobe National Park
When you arrive at Kasane International Airport, the team from Ngoma will meet you and transfer you – by road – to the charming Ngoma Safari Lodge. Ngoma is located in the Chobe Forest Reserve on the edge of plateau, and overlooks the seasonal Chobe floodplain. Views from the lodge extend across the savannah, floodplains and Chobe River to the horizon beyond. Sunsets from the lodge are remarkable!
Chobe is fondly referred to as the “Land of Giants” because of its high concentrations of elephants that congregate on the banks of the Chobe River. There is plenty of opportunity to view game from the comfort of your deck, and each chalet enjoys an elevated view of the river.
Chalets have indoor and outdoor living areas, indoor and outdoor showers AND their own exclusive plunge pool.
Your activities include breakfast and lunch cruises on the Chobe River, full day game drives in Chobe National Park and night drives in the mysterious Chobe Forest Reserve.
Day 4-7: Machaba Camp, Khwai Private Concession
After breakfast and your morning activity, you will be transferred by road back to Kasane Airport for a light aircraft flight into the Okavango Delta area. The flight will land on a remote, private bushveld airstrip in the Khwai Concession. Charter flights offer an amazing opportunity for aerial views of Botswana’s waterways. It’s not uncommon to spot big game from the air !
The Machaba team will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you back to camp. Game viewing starts the minute you clamber into the game viewer !
Set beneath a canopy of trees on the Khwai River, Machaba certainly sets the standard in terms of riverfront accommodation. Classic safari tents line the banks of the Khwai, and come complete with private sitting areas and outdoor showers. This is the flagship Machaba camp and certainly sets the standard in terms of old world luxury. A pool with a view, outdoor boma area and plush lounge add that exclusive safari feel to the camp.
Activities at Machaba Camp include morning and evening game drives in open safari 4×4 vehicles, mokoro trips, night drives and professionally guided bush walks. The Khwai area is known for prolific wildlife. Fall asleep to the sound of the hippos honking and wake-up to the delightful birdsong that fills the air !
Day 7-10: Gomoti Plains Camp, Okavango Delta
After your morning safari activity, tuck into a gourmet brunch and then head to the airstrip for your light aircraft transfer to the Gomoto Plains Camp in the Okavango Delta. Gomoti offers a true Delta experience, where the focus is on water-based activities (water level dependent).
Luxurious tents have a private deck with a sitting area and large modern ensuite bathrooms. Each tent also has an outdoor shower area. Decor is reflective of its surrounds, with modern touches scattered throughout.
Activities at Gomoti Plains Camp are varied. Enjoy motorised boating safaris along the shimmering open waters of the Okavango Delta, guided traditional mokoro trips through the narrow channels, traditional morning and evening game drives as well as walking and night drives.
Day 10: Depart to Maun Airport
On the last day you will enjoy your normal morning activity, which will be followed by brunch. You will then – once again – hop on board a charter flight to Maun airport for your onward travel.
