A Game Census Safari – Client Feedback

A Safari with a difference – a Game Census Safari!

Jako recently booked Ellie and her friend, Siobhan on a safari with a difference – A Game Census Safari !

Here is a picture of us after we helped capture and load this giraffe into a truck. Fun!

This Game Census Safari was held by Ant’s Nest in the malaria free Waterberg area of South Africa. The Ant’s Collection do an annual census of the animals on their property and have created the Game Census Safari which invites guests to participate in the counting! Combined of course with the luxury safari experience synonymous with The Ant Collection.

The Game Census is done on horseback as by helicopter makes too much noise and stresses the animals too much. This is live safari action where guests get involved in the actual counting and capture of some animals. Some animals are darted to get blood samples and others are relocated. You can read all about the 2015 game census here.

Jako booked the ladies in at the absolutely stunning Clifftop Lodge in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve for 2 nights.  From there they went to stay at Ant’s Nest in neighbouring Waterberg for 8 nights for the Game Census Safari. After all the excitement they headed to the northern Sabi Sand where they stayed at Arathusa Safari Lodge for a traditional game viewing safari!

Here is Ellie’s feedback:

I cannot thank Jako at Sun Safaris enough for planning my trip to South Africa.  I wanted to see animals, but I wasn’t sure where to go.  Jako came up with great suggestions for both destinations and lodging and he kept everything within the budget I had specified.  His choices were spot on.  My traveling buddy and I saw every animal we had hoped to see and we had an amazing time.  Every lodge Jako sent us to was beautiful, the staff welcoming and the guides fantastic.  I highly recommend Clifftop Lodge in Walkevonden.  Jako’s best suggestion, though, was a week long visit to Ant’s Hill for a riding safari and to participate in their annual game census.  So much fun!  Furthermore, all of the travel arrangements worked like clockwork.  The transfer people were always on time and got us where we needed to go.  Sun Safaris, and Jako in particular, made my travel experience stress free and memorable.
