A Zimbabwe and Botswana Safari – Guest feedback by Celeste le Roux

We love hearing back from our guests after they have travelled, and although we welcome all kinds of feedback, we celebrate when our guests enjoy their safari as much as Ralph did. After having visited Kruger in 2003, Ralph opted for something different this time round, and Celeste organised just that. Zimbabwe and Botswana offer some of the wildest and most undiscovered areas of southern Africa, and Ralph’s experience was unexpected, but very well received.

Camps visited were Chobe Elephant Camp for 3 nights, then to Victoria Falls Safari Club for 3 nights, and finally Somalisa Camp for 5 nights. See his feedback below:

Celeste,

Hello from wet and windy Australia.

I must commend you on an excellent job. No hiccups or problems were experienced whilst on safari in either Botswana or Zimbabwe. It was something worth doing, totally different to the time I experienced in Kruger National park back in 2003.

The 3 places I stayed were really good and the food was first class. Chobe Elephant Camp in Botswana only opened in October last year and was excellent, as was the camp in Hwange. Somalisa Camp had a rustic shower, and I hadn’t taken a shower under a water bucket in years (not since I was a boy scout eons ago)! I had no expectations when I started, but it was something to be experienced, especially the time on safari. I had a great time!

Saw plenty of animals: elephant by the hundreds, lions, hyena, buffalo, kudu, sable, ostrich and giraffe. Did not get to see rhino, leopard, cheetah or painted dog (wild dog), saw signs of leopard and apparently painted dog has made a bit of comeback, but didn’t see one. I patted a cheetah but missed out in the wild. Whereabouts of rhino on the other hand is known to national parks personnel, but is kept secret. I saw enough wild animals and took plenty of photographs.

I have attached a couple of photographs after I worked out how to make them a suitable size.

Regards,

Ralph
