The newlyweds! Gloria and Ian at Cape Point in Cape Town

Jako recently booked Gloria and her new husband, Ian, on an amazing honeymoon to South Africa! They started their honeymoon off in Cape Town at the boutique hotel, Villa Zest, before heading to the Cape Winelands where they stayed at Majeka House.

From the Cape they flew to the Kruger National Park to continue on their amazing honeymoon! They stayed at the new and luxurious Makanyi Lodge in the Timbavati Private Reserve, which shares unfenced borders with the Kruger.

After their Kruger safari they headed to the magical island of the Seychelles and stayed at the Constance Ephelia resort.

Here is their feedback:

Hi Jako,

Hope all is well! Just wanted to provide you with some feedback from our honeymoon!

Villa Zest: Great and friendly staff! Rooms were very nice & clean. Breakfast was good as well! They were very sweet and left us a honeymoon surprise too.

Majeka House: I am so glad you had us stay here! The staff is so accommodating and the hotel and rooms are beautiful. I wish we stayed longer. Also, the manager there, Wonder is such a sweetheart!

Makanyi Lodge: This was the best place we’ve ever ever stayed at! The entire experience at the safari and staying here was the highlight of our honeymoon. We loved that the hotel was so intimate (max 16 guests). We got to know everyone who was staying there. The managers, rangers, trackers and staff are awesome. Everyone is so attentive and the food is AMAZING! We would love to come here again! We also liked that their reserve is open and not a fenced off reserve, so the animals were more “in the wild”. Also, they had the best honeymoon surprise for us with a romantic candlelit dinner on our backyard porch and candles lit throughout our room.

Constance Ephélia: I don’t know if it’s because Makanyi Lodge/safari was so intimate and amazing but I found Constance Ephelia a bit to be too big and commercialized. I was expecting their rooms and facilities to be more modern. The food there was okay. You’re right about everything being so expensive! We were slightly disappointed that on the last two days we were there, the ocean water was brown with algae and dead fish. The staff advised people not to go into the water because it might make people sick. Overall, Seychelles is very beautiful and the resort was fine but I think I was expecting the resort to be more glamorous.

Air Seychelles: You’ve already heard our story about the flight delay. I thought they handled the delay so poorly. They should not have told their passengers that they would rebook everyone’s flight when they did not. They outright lied to everyone. We are going to write a complaint to them.

All in all, we had a wonderful honeymoon! South Africa and the Seychelles is so beautiful and we hope to go to another safari soon! Thanks for all your help – it has truly been a memorable honeymoon!

Best regards,

Gloria

(Sun Safaris – when we visited Constance Ephelia in 2010 is was wonderful, but it sounds like it is due for a refurb and have made a note for future reference. Air Seychelles is also the only carrier to the island which made the delay even worse for Gloria and Ian as all they could do was wait. )
