Our South Africa Safari – A Trip of a lifetime!
Margaret sent us her feedback of their South Africa Safari! Margaret and her husband Richard started their tour of South Africa on the beautiful Garden Route. This coastal paradise area of South Africa has large rain forests, beautiful scenery, beaches and is a perfect self drive destination. After collecting a car in George, the couple drove to Knysna for two nights, staying in The Turbine Hotel before heading inland to the ostrich capital of Oudtshoorn. From Oudtshoorn they followed Route 62, a road which meanders to Cape Town, through quaint towns and beautiful mountain ranges.
Once in Cape Town they stayed at The Three Boutique Hotel and explored the Cape and the Winelands. They then flew off to the Greater Kruger to stay at our favourite camps of nThambo Tree Camp and Arathusa Safari Lodge. They ended this wonderful South Africa Journey by exploring the Victoria Falls and staying at Ilala Lodge.
Here is Margaret’s feedback:
Hi Michelle, we are back and we had a fantastic time. I would recommend your services without hesitation. I do have comments on the hotels and safari camps so here goes.
Turbine in Knysna — we loved it, very modern and clean and unusual — we were happy that we wound up here
Rosenhof in Oudtshoorn — just OK, maybe a little TOO upscale, felt a little stiff, also there was a good deal of street noise because of the location on a busy road, breakfast was just so so
Three Boutique — loved this one too, very friendly and helpful staff and spotless accommodations, good breakfast, maybe not the greatest location, might have been nice to be near the waterfront but they easily shuttled us or ordered a cab for us when we needed it, only problem is that the directions on their website are impossible, you have to make a right hand turn that was not at a light and there was way too much traffic for that — we told the staff at reception and she agreed so maybe they will fix it
Nthambo — great experience here, we loved it until we got to
Arathusa — even better, you know this, we had the best guide and tracker and the accommodations are top notch, I do wish they didn’t charge for every little thing (even water) but all in all our favorite thing from the whole trip
Ilala — beautiful hotel, maybe the nicest place we stayed, fantastic breakfast, elegant but still casual atmosphere, loved it
We had no problems with flights — one was late but did not cause a problem, all transfers were on time and very professional. Thanks again — it was the trip of a lifetime for us!!!
