An Affordable Leopard and Lion Walking Safari in the Kruger

It is assumed that a dream safari in Africa is an expensive affair. Especially when you’re considering camps located in private reserves. But, actually, this is not true.  Do your research, find out what you want from a safari and you’ll stumble across camps that offer many of the same luxuries as more expensive camps. One such camp is Africa on Foot . Their unique selling point is that they offer walking safaris with a focus on finding predators.

The trail guides are well-trained and can “read” the bush. Obviously, the wild being the wild, sightings are never guaranteed. However, there is one particular pride of lions – the Ross Pride who dominate the region. They spend their days walking through camp, roaring loudly late at night and patrol the roads waiting to be photographed.

Apart from the lions, there are also the leopards that simply love Africa on Foot. Rhulani is a firm favourite and she is often spotted relaxing in tall trees.

The guides at Africa on Foot, although passionate about all fauna and flora; have an obsession with big cats. If you want an authentic experience and time to find out about the various lion and leopard groups of the Klaserie, then head out on a walking safari with the team from Africa on Foot. When you arrive at camp chat to Rein or Matt about the intentions of your safari. They will often tailor-make a walk in an attempt to find particular predators of interest. Africa on Foot is one of the few camps I have been to where I felt like I was a ranger and part of the African bush !

Below are the images that rangers have taken of lions and leopards around the Africa on Foot camp. They’re constantly updating their Facebook page with wildlife albums – click here to become a fan !
