Big Five Vacation at Arathusa Safari Lodge – Client Feedback by Liselle Raath

Liselle’s clients enjoyed a Big Five vacation at the Arathusa Safari Lodge in the Sabi Sand region of the Kruger Park.
Hi Liselle,

Thank you for getting back to me! We had the most wonderful time thank you!!!! All pick ups went according to plan. The Lodge itself was amazing!!! Food fantastic and loads of it. When we arrived there were 7 hippos in the water by the lodge so that was a good start! We saw the big 5 and loads more animals as well. Fantastic memories of close encounters. The weather was not good but it didn’t stop us doing anything. It was very cloudy, drizzly and chilly.

Apparently the rainy season had come earlier than usual and the vegetation was very lush and thick, so it made it harder for our ranger and tracker to find the animals but somehow it made it all the more exciting. I liked the thrill of the chase when they found the tracks of a rhino or leopard.!

Our ranger was Ryan. He was senior ranger and really was very very good at his job. We saw 8 leopards. Absolutely amazing. The lions proved very difficult to find as they went into mala mala territory for a few days, where we were forbidden to go. On the morning of leaving the lodge to go to the airport, we went on our last game drive. Ryan was determined to find the lions for us. He had heard roars the night before and was convinced that they were back. He was right! I was quite overcome with the sight of them.

On the last evening I got back from the game drive to find my bed decorated with petals, candles in the bath and a bottle of wine chilling. What a surprise! Couldn’t believe it! Then when we went down for our meal, the staff sang to me and gave me a birthday cake – chocolate too!!  It was all just amazing.

A new manager is at the lodge. He has only been there about 2 months. He was very nice and made a point of being around most of the time.

We very sadly left and took the plane to Cape Town. Wow what a city! It was a bit of a shock to the system after Kruger but nice to be back in touch with the outside world again. Unfortunately the gales there stopped us from going up Table Mountain which was disappointing but we took the open topped bus (nearly got blown off!!) and saw plenty of the city. I was planning to pop in and introduce myself to you and thank you, but time did not allow.

All my pictures are on facebook, so please feel free to have a look at them. It just leaves me to say a very big thank you to Sun Safaris, especially you Liselle, who has made the booking from start to finish an absolute pleasure!!!!! You were always more than willing to answer all my questions and I felt the whole thing was very professional. I would not hesitate to book with you again!!

Many thanks Liselle and I hope I hear from you again!!

Kind Regards

Jane Sadler
