South Africa Holiday Guest Review – by Liselle Raath

Liselle arranged a South Africa holiday and safari for some guests of hers to The Victoria & Alfred Hotel, Tanda Tula, Simbambili & Fairlawns Boutique Hotel. Below is their feedback:

“Hi Liselle,

Thank you for planning such a wonderful vacation for the three of us to South Africa!!!  We had a wonderful time and everything went smoothly!!

Victoria and Alfred was a lovely hotel right on the wharf.   Wonderful service, elegant decor, breakfast was amazing.  Plus, were were close to tons of shopping and a huge mall. Unfortunately, it rained 2 of the 4 days we were in Cape Town so we didn’t make it up the tram to Table Mountain.  Our driver from Ilios was excellent and we were able to have him drive us for the 3 days we toured.  All of the tours were informational and fun.  We saw the baboons out on the road on our way to the Cape of Good Hope to see the penguins.  Quite amazing. We thought our driver was kidding about the baboons!  The wine tour was equally good.  On the 4th day since it was raining we took a taxi to Century City and spent the afternoon walking through that huge mall.

All of our pick ups and road transfers were perfect!  It was a relief to have all the planes, cars and transfers expertly arranged by you. Everyone was there and on time and friendly, knowledgeable and courteous.

Tanda Tula was fabulous.  The tents, the food, the atmosphere, the guide Dale and his wife Haley were warm and friendly.  It was all perfect.  We saw lions mating, lions and cubs feeding,  Rhino, Elephants, Zebra, Giraffe, Painted dogs, Impala so many animals I can’t even name them all.  The breakfast in the bush was such a treat and Ryan the chef was amusing and very friendly. He cooked up a few special things for my sister and I.    Our eating habits were a joke after our three days at Tanda Tula.  We truly felt we were leaving friends when we left Tanda Tula.

Our road and air transfers were all well timed and went smoothly.  Our next stop was Simbambili in Sabi Sands.  The venue was breathtaking and our rooms opulent, lovely and beyond anything we could have imagined with the outdoor deck, pool and bed.  We had little grey monkeys visiting our deck everyday!  Plus with the ravine below lots of animals just wandering around eating and drinking within yards of our deck.    Simbambili had a lot to live up to after our experience in Tanda Tula.  We did have a slightly different experience but equally wonderful.  We did see some different things on our Simbambili excursions that we didn’t see in Tanda Tula.  We saw Leopards mating, lions right after a kill enjoying their meal, a family of  Painted dogs.  Amazing!

And just when you thought the experience couldn’t be any better we arrived at the Fairlawns Hotel which was a real treat!  Our rooms were huge and elegant!  The staff was very friendly and very helpful and the food was excellent.  My brother-in-law was really impressed with the gym and spa.   I did ask Ilios to change our day trip in Johannesburg when we found out it was a 2 1/2 hour drive to Sun City.    Ilios did take us to the cultural center in Pretoria instead of Sun City.

You did an amazing job putting together our vacation!  I would certainly ask you to plan another trip for us in the future!! And I will certainly tell my friends to have Sun Safari’s plan their vacation in Africa!!   Let me know if you have any other questions about our vacation.  I will be happy to respond.

 Sincerely,

Sandra La Ferrera”
