Sisters Do Safari in Style in the Timbavati and Sabi Sand Game Reserves

03 October – 09 October 2012

“I was privileged enough to go on an unforgettable safari with my sister.

DAY 1:

We were dropped off at Cape Town International Airport to catch our flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg. When we arrived at Johannesburg airport we took the complimentary shuttle to the D’Oreale Grande Hotel at Emperors Palace.

We explored Emperors Palace Casino (no, we did not gamble…hehe!!). We had a wonderful dinner at one of the many lovely restaurants at Emperors Palace! We stayed the night at the D’Oreale Grande in the lovely classic room.

DAY 2 – 4:

Woke up super early, and because we were too early for breakfast, the D’Oreale Grande made us a yummy packed breakfast to take along on our 6 hour road transfer with Ashtons transfers to Bones Bush Pub. Here we were met by Nic from Season in Africa Transfers to transfer us to Tanda Tula Luxury Tented Camp in the Timbavati Game Reserve. This road transfer was only approximately 45 minutes, thank goodness.

We were lucky enough to spend 2 nights at Tanda Tula in a very spacious, luxury tent with amazing views of the river bed. It was a dry river bed unfortunately, but it was still stunning, as there was a massive herd of elephants across the bank of the river. We could sit on our deck and admire the view – absolutely stunning!

We had a great time at Tanda Tula; amazing game drives with awesome game viewing. The staff is out of this world, so friendly and accommodating. The food was super yummy, prepared by such an enthusiastic chef. Every morning after game drive we would have a bush breakfast, it was great. Here we enjoyed a lovely Boma dinner.

DAY 4 – 6:

After an awesome game drive, we enjoyed a scrummy breakfast. We were then road transferred to Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge in the Sabi Sand, which takes approximately 2 hours.

Upon arrival we had a lovely lunch overlooking the huge dam. Every suite at Chitwa Chitwa has an amazing view of the dam, which is great, as there are loads of hippos wallowing in the dam, and the animals come to the dam to drink.

We were privileged enough to also spend 2 nights at Chitwa Chitwa, where my sister were given the Charlsy Suite to stay in. This was great; it had two very beautiful and spacious rooms with huge bathrooms, and our own private plunge pool on a huge deck overlooking the dam.

Once again we had an amazing stay, awesome game drives, wonderful staff and fabulous food. The other guests on our game drives were also wonderful, which made our stay extra special.

DAY 6 – 7:

After a delightful breakfast, we were road transferred back to Bones Bush Pub where we were met by Ashtons Transfers for our long trek back to Johannesburg. We stayed at The Premier Hotel for one night.

DAY 7:

After a lovely buffet breakfast, we took the complimentary shuttle back to Johannesburg airport to catch our flight back to our home sweet home, Cape Town!

OVERALL EXPERINCE:

It was ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING in every way! Wonderful memories!”
