Great Walking Kruger Safari – Client feedback

Natasha on behalf of Cathy and Kathy (Cathy Squared as they referred to us) we had a great time with our vacation.  The guides at Walking Safari were wonderful, the lodge comfortable (though the shower was a bit more than a dribble), the food was plentiful and delicious.  I especially like the rustic setting – it made it more realistic being in Africa.

I really enjoyed the morning 2  1/2 – 3 hour walks.  They were not strenuous (no mountains) and the temperatures in the morning were nice and brisk and it helped to contain the urge to go for a walk during the day – which you can’t for safety reasons.  Though we didn’t see a lot of animals on the walks we did learn about many things that we walked by – animal tracks and what they were, the plants, trees, birds, insect life, the importance of termite mounds.  It was also reassuring that the guides had gun protection even if it was not needed.  As they said we look like a big animal when we are bunched together, so  most animals would not hesitate to avoid us.

The evening drives were fun, with small groups (no more than 10 at a time) we had plenty of space in the vehicle.  We were able to amazingly see lots of animals and a lion pride that didn’t seem to mind us and just walked around and by our vehicle like we weren’t even there.  How fascinating that the vehicles are accepted.  We saw everything except leopard and crocs.

Lots of Elephants, rhino, zebra, impala, giraffe, hippo, vervet monkeys, cape buffalo, eagles, starlings, termite mounds, lions, cheetah, civet cat, mongoose, kudu, dyker, blue wildebeest, acacia, sausage tree and the list goes on.

The entire staff was marvelous – answering questions, making us feel at home, providing transportation, temporary use of computers.  We were pleased that though there was no electricity in our room.  But in the dining area there was a large power bar that we could charge our camera batteries each night was great because we all took a ton of photos.  Beer and alcoholic drinks were very reasonably priced and always available.

Loved the evening “African sundowners” sunset with drinks.

I would highly recommend the Walking Safari Lodge, the 4 nights were perfect.  We toyed with staying in the tree house but others had it reserved.

The driver that picked us up from Waterberg Transfers was a great driver.

Though he was a few minutes late coming and I was panicking because the day before I had lost all of my travel documents that I brought with me, I was afraid that I had missed something in the paperwork where I was to

meet him – but it was just traffic.   He had our names and so we didn’t

need the vouchers that had been lost.   I would recommend their service,

though I did feel bad because it was better than 4 hour drive  from the international airport (coming in from Zambia) to where he dropped us off at Walking Safari, getting us there about 7:30 p.m..  Then he had a 4 hour drive to get back home.  The vehicle had water for us and was pleasantly new and in excellent driving/safety condition.  It did need a car wash after a good hour of dirt roads and sporadic bug spots.

Thank you for answering my panicked phone call at the airport – the nice porter lent me his phone so I could call you.  Our phones did not work there

– so we were relying on others to help us navigate.

Overall our travels were exceptional, without any problems and we were delighted with the people, the sights, the positive response that we received everywhere we went.  Everyone went out of their way for us – that

is more than I can say about my own country.   I will definitely recommend

your services and South Africa as a great place to visit.   Thank you.
