One of my colleagues recently got engaged, and she’s served as the inspiration for this blog post about wine farm weddings in Cape Town. Having been to a spate of wine farm weddings in recent months, and being a self-appointed connoisseur of fine wines, I thought that I’m more than qualified to offer up my top 4 venues for wine farm weddings. There are so many venues in the wine-rich regions of Cape Town, and all of them offer something spectacular. Some of these farms are well-known, while others are off-the-beaten vineyard. Today I’ve decided to give a bit of airtime to 4 wine farm venues that offer something unique to loved-up couples wanting wine farm weddings in Cape Town.
Zorgvliet
Zorgvliets rests in an exquisite valley of vineyards and is a mere 7 km from the vineyard town of Stellenbosch. This luxury farm oozes a sense of country charm and is ideal for weekend away weddings. Ultra-luxurious rooms surround a small lawn and swimming pool in an almost courtyard setting. Just in front of the area is the Banghoek restaurant ideal for pre-drinks and the elegant Oak room area for your reception, which is where the weddings take place. Vineyards hug the entire region and make for the ideal setting for photographs.
A winding road extends down to a boutique style deli and picnic area, set under a tree. It’s a little oasis, jsut perfect for casually finishing a bottle of wine and indulging in a deli style simple lunch. This is the perfect thing to do the day before the wedding.
There’s a quaint church and chapel at the end of a winding road. We highly recommend jumping aboard the farm tractor for an exciting journey up into the hills for the wedding.
Beau Constantia
The contemporary Beau Constantia is the ideal choice for a wine farm wedding close to Cape Town. The exquisite farm is situated on top of Constantia Nek, and offers panoramic views of the mountains, city, False Bay and even extend all the way across to Stellenbosch and the Helderberg mountains. Vineyards are located 350 metres above sea-level and wine connesiers can expect a variety of reds and whites on offer.
In terms of weddings, there is the elegant Chef’s Warehouse for a reception area and the rolling lawns provide the ideal place for the ceremony. Bakenhof is an elegant wedding venue located in the Wellington region of the Cape winelands, a couple hours drive outside of Cape Town. Bakenhof is a sophisticated venue featured in many magazines. It’s a popular venue for those chasing exclusive wedding destinations with a difference. We’re not surprised at all the publicity, considering the reception area is a glass house and the chapel has sweeping views of the looming Hawequa Mountains. The team at Bakenhof are wedding experts and will curate the perfect wedding based on your needs and budget. In fact, they actually offer set wedding packages for the eager bride.
