Hey Natasha,
The trip was amazing. We really enjoyed all the hotels/accommodations.
V&A Hotel was the perfect location being on the waterfront and all tourist spots easily accessible for us. We were able to book all our daily activities with the hotel and the only thing we regret not booking in advance was Robben Island as it was completely booked for the week we were there.
The Kambaku Lodge was incredible. It was so fun spotting animals even as we drove from the airport to the lodge. I even spotted a leopard from the car, just 2 mins from the lodge! The room was beautiful. We had animals walking behind our deck some mornings which was so cool. The staff, chefs, and rangers were extremely accommodating to our religious concerns and dietary needs. They made sure to prepare special plates and dishes for us each meal. We had to be back before sundown on Friday for Sabbath and could also not get into a car on Saturday for that reason, and the staff was able to get a ranger to return to the lodge to take us in our own game drive so we’d be back for sundown, and then he took us for an extended bush walk on Saturday, which was amazing. We were 50ft away from a herd of 500 buffalo on level ground!! We saw all the Big 5 by the end of the trip and each day and drive was a different experience. We loved the communal feel at the lodge as the guests and even some of the staff ate dinner together each night. We would ABSOLUTELY return to this lodge again in the future. Maybe during your summer perhaps 🙂
We were a little nervous pulling into the Residence hotel in Joburg. It was so interesting to have this hotel in the middle of the residential area, I think that’s why we were confused. We’re also not used to the high walls around the houses! But the place was very quaint and had a “homey” feel to it for sure. The only downside was what I had previously emailed you about regarding the car service charge.
Seychelles was gorgeous. The resort was huge and if we really wanted we could have stayed on the grounds the whole time. Weather was a bit unfortunate as it was overcast and rained now and then, but thankfully it did’t stop us from any excursions or activites. We did scuba diving, zip lining, snorkeling. Really cool that the hotel has an enclosure with giant sea turtles and guests can feed them everyday at 4. We also got to the spa, which was gorgeous.
It was the most amazing and perfect honeymoon, we couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Attached are some closeup pictures I took from safari, let me know if they come through on your end.
