A Namibia Experience visiting Kulala Desert Lodge and Hoanib Skeleton Coast camp
Darren returned from Namibia Experience in a December. He started in Windhoek for his first night, then went to Sossusvlei for three nights. He stayed at the Kulala Desert Lodge, with its amazing views over the desert. From there Darren drove to Swakopmund for a night before heading to the Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp. Here is Darren’s fantastic feedback, which further proves why Namibia should be on every traveller’s bucket list! Darren is already planning his return!

Hi Jako –
My apologies for not emailing you over the weekend – It turned out to be a busy one so I wasn’t able to sit down and write to you
I had an absolutely amazing holiday! This was my third safari – Second to Namibia and I have fallen more in love with the country – I can’t thank you enough for recommending Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp – It is by far my favorite camp that I have ever visited
Let me start out by saying that I returned to Kulala Desert Lodge specifically to climb Big Daddy Dune – And I did it! I was the first to “summit” that day and I did it under an hour (A true miracle) – The journey up was amazing and once at the top – The view was absolutely breathtaking – If you have never been – You must go and climb the dune!
What an achievement! Climbing to the top of Big Daddy Dune
And again – I can’t thank you enough for recommending Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp – Where do I begin? Well – The camp itself is perfection – Beautiful accommodations situated in a stunning setting
Coffee Break at Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp
Clement Lawrence was my guide – He’s the manager of the camp as well – The best guide I have ever had – He loves his job and he does it well – Entertaining – Very knowledgeable and took the time to get to know me and helped me with my new iPhone 6+ taking different types of photos and helped me with my new Canon Rebel showing me how to use the different features – Very thankful for his knowledge of cameras I took some amazing shots which I will email some to you after I send this email – Some he took of me which I’m thankful that he did – The rest of the staff at the camp are truly wonderful people who love their work – Wonderful, wonderful people!
Sun Set , a magical time of day
The whole experience at Hoanib was amazing but traveling to the coast – Driving through the sand dunes on top of the vehicle is an experience I will never forget – Topping a dune while sitting on top of the vehicle and going over the edge I will never forget either – Definitely at the top of my list of experiences! And then the coast – Beyond stunning – It’s so nice to see coastline in a natural state – No buildings or people – So different than Miami Beach where I live
And to arrive at the coastline with a table set up for our lunch – Perfection!
Thank you again Jako – Thank you!
I’ll be emailing you photos next – And a few videos – Would love to see some of my photos on the blog!
So – I would love to return to Namibia this coming December – Maybe you can put together an itinerary for me – No rush since we have some time!
Thanks again for everything Jako!
Darren
