A review of Rhino Post Safari Lodge and Plains Tented Camp in the Kruger Concessions
Celeste booked Judy and William in to two of the Kruger Concessions Camps, Rhino Post Safari Lodge and the Plains Tented Camp. These camps are actually with in the main Kruger National Park and the land the concession lies on is rented for 20 years. The safari experience is wonderful as the land is private. Both Celeste and the Kruger Concessions exceeded expectations for these safari goers!
Here is their review:
Hi Celeste
We loved both camps, but liked the riding safaris far better than the walking ones. We got to see many more animals that way. Plus, neither of us is a bird lover, and that was pretty much all the walking safari covered, except for numerous discussions on differentiating types of animal poop. 🙂
Kruger was on fire the whole time we were there, so the animals were a distance away, but we did get to see the Big Five (a dozen lions and 1 leopard, but dozens of the others). Had we stayed two or three days at the Post Camp and only one at Plains, we would have had many more opportunities, but that was our fault. We planned it that way.
We saw lions, a leopard, lots of cape buffalo and rhinos, including many babies. We also so numerous herds of elephants, also with babies (one only two days old). Baboons, monkeys, vultures, wildebeests, kudu, nyalas, zebra, and more. I will have pictures to send, but my computer died right before I left home. I am just getting used to a new one, so it will take me a week or so to deal with all my photos. I took over a thousand, but have a few I think you would really like. I will send them.
I can’t thank you enough for how well this vacation was planned. Every transfer was perfect. The drivers were waiting for us at the exactly right time, they were very friendly, and told us all about the scenery and the villages all along the 2 1/2 hr. drives into Rhino Post/Plains Camps. The scheduled flights were right on time, and the accommodations were spectacular.
We wanted what we pictured as authentic African bush settings, and we got them. We’ll be back some day.
Thank you for all of your help. You exceeded beyond our expectations.
Judy
