Liselle Raath sent her guests Tony and Xianghong on a trip where they visited the Cape Winelands and Kruger, staying over at Franschhoek Country House, Simbavati River Lodge and Chitwa Chitwa Lodge. Tony Webb shared the following guest feedback:
“Liselle,
Some feedback.
Everything went exactly according to plan!!! We were really impressed by the professionalism of everyone, especially the game reserve guides. I spent time on my deck. The nyala would come right up to the edge of the deck, and the hippos would occasionally make hippo-like noises.
Chitwa Chitwa was amazing!!!! We saw the Big 5 up close on our first day, and only occasionally saw other vehicles.
Franschoek was also wonderful. The food and accommodation was excellent!! The town of Franschoek is unbelievably cute. Daytime, we would walk to and from town – about a mile – to try and burn off some calories. Nighttime, we would take the hotel shuttle, which was very efficient.
I am glad we did Simbavati before Chitwa Chitwa. It is, of course, half the price. We saw four of the big 5, including a leopard dining on a baby impala. The game reserve guide was again very good, but not quite up to the standard of Chitwa Chitwa. The food was wholesome and varied, but didn’t have the wow factor of Chitwa Chitwa. We travel light, but still found our tent a little small.
I had a week on my own before Stella arrived, staying in Plettenburg, Knysna, and Cape Town. I liked all of them.
We are planning a return trip to South Africa next winter. Stella really enjoyed the animals, but I think that if we are going to do a safari again, she would probably like something a little different from the Big 5. Suggestions please!
Thanks again for putting it all together!!!
Best
Tony”
