Liselle’s clients enjoyed a safari at the Simbavati River Lodge in the Timbavati Game Reserve, Kruger Park.
Hi Liselle –
Well, as it turns out, we just got back last night. The trip home, traveling standby as airline employees, was a bit of an adventure! HDS-JNB-AMS-ATL, with those last 2 legs crammed in a middle seat in coach – glad we had some sleeping pills!
Anyway, regarding the trip, we had a wonderful time. In Capetown, we got to do most of the big tourist draws. Got up Table Mountain on a clear day, wanderered around downtown and V & A Waterfront. Spent a day driving through Stellenbosch and Franschook(sp?) visiting 2 wineries, another day lapping the Cape Peninsula with stops in Hout Bay, Simon’s Town and the Cape. Saw the penguins….and even got in a few hours at the Kirstenbosch Gardens…
Regarding your Safari, thank you so much for recommending Simbavati! We absolutely loved it. The lodge was just perfect, and the personnel were without exception friendly, helpful and very informative. I think we were very lucky, in that over the 6 drives we went on, we saw at least 20 large animal species – most more than once or twice! We made a list! Elephants, giraffes (fighting!), lions, leopards, kudu, water buck, hippo, rhino, zebras, nyala, buffalo, wildebeast – the list goes on…..truly a magical time, and the food and service was outstanding. I would highly recommend that lodge to anyone.
I am in the middle of downloading the 6-700 pictures we took, and will post some of the best on a Flickr page when I get it done and send you a link,
Thanks so much for the Safari recommendation.
Regards, Ted and Marina Clough
