Crocodile vs. Black Mamba – Kruger National Park

A risky river-crossing moment is always carefully mapped out by any terrestrial member of the wild, as the crocodile is a known apex predator with a reputation for silent sabotage…

Check out this unique video filmed at the Shingwezi River in the Kruger National Park in South Africa:

In this rare piece of footage, the unusual dare devil is the legendary, aggressive black mamba. This is the fastest land snake in the world, reaching slithering speeds of up to 20km/h and, as if its incredible speed wasn’t terrifying enough, this black-mouthed snake has an extremely effective intimidation technique. The black mamba can raise a third of its body length off the ground, bringing it face to face with its opponent who would probably be surprised to be facing the legless creature at such a height! Fatal venomous bites leave black mamba victims with a very poor chance of survival, and even a beast as armoured and dangerous as the crocodile knows how to avoid the dangerous end.

This exceptional film captures both the crocodile’s opportunistic feeding habits, as well as, the mamba’s astonishing speed. This is a rare encounter, fortunate to have been captured on film, and it screams of the excitement of safari. The Kruger National Park is also where the famous face-off between lionesses and a crocodile over a buffalo calf took place. The thrill of the South African bushveld is due to its unpredictability and the untamed instinct of the wild animals that inhabit it.
