In summer, Botswana becomes a productive paradise interspersed with vibrant floral displays and a kaleidoscope of colours. To experience the summer highlights is to experience a special time in southern Africa. There’s an explosion of new life: many species give birth to their young and predator sightings are frequent as they take full advantage of the abundance of inexperienced younger prey.
This eight-night package contrasts the wide ranging habitats of the Khwai Concession in the Okavango Delta, the wildlife-rich Linyanti and world-famous Victoria Falls from the Zambian side. Transfers between properties are done by air or road or even boating in some instances.
DAYS 1, 2 & 3 – BANOKA BUSH CAMP, KWHAI COMMUNITY CONCESSION, OKAVANGO DELTA
Banoka Bush Camp is situated in the Khwai Development Trust Community Concession, on the banks of the Khwai River. Built along the tree-line overlooking a lagoon, the whole camp is raised off the ground to take in the view. This incredibly diverse area hosts a wealth of wildlife and activities include guided game drives, walks (subject to availability) and traditional mokoro rides that allow one to float down the Khwai’s secretive channels, creating that classic Delta experience.
Note: Banoka can be exchanged with Little Vumbura Camp as well.
DAYS 4, 5 & 6 – DUMATAU CAMP, LINYANTI CONCESSION
The completely rebuilt DumaTau Camp is raised off the ground to take advantage of the sweeping dramatic river views. It is located close to the source of the Savute Channel in the western part of the Linyanti, which makes game drives along the Savute Channel one of the highlights of a stay here. Activities allow guests to view game during day and night game drives, on short nature walks (subject to availability), and while boating along the serene waters of the Linyanti Marsh. There are also a number of platforms and hides near camp from which to view and photograph wildlife.
DAYS 7 & 8 – TOKA LEYA, MOSI-OA-TUNYA NATIONAL PARK
Overlooking the Zambezi River and some of its islands is Toka Leya Camp. The camp’s dining and lounge areas offer ample space for relaxation. Meals are served on the sundeck, the pool deck and dining room all overlooking the Zambezi. Activities (on fully inclusive rate) include a tour of the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, game drives within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, river cruises, fishing and guided nature walks.
