The rangers and guests at Londolozi recently had a great leopard sighting. On safari, some of the best sightings are always when you see animals interacting.
On this occasion it involved some incredibly bad manners from the Camp Pan male towards the Maxabeni female leopard. She had successfully hunted an impala and had started feeding when she decided to do what cats do best – sleep. However, whilst dozing, she did not see the Camp Pan male approaching and in a flash he was up in the tree and beating her with his powerful paws!
He continued with his extreme aggression and she desperately tried to get down onto ground by moving between the branches. His patience finally relented and he attacked her and sent her flying to the ground. It was so quick that it was impossible to capture on film with the fading light, but both guests and rangers witnessed an incredible sighting!
Londolozi is one of the pioneers of the safari industry in Africa. They are located in the world class Sabi Sand in the Kruger.
